Our Values

Our values describe the way we go about doing things
and help us to remember what is important to us as a Church.
We have 6 values:

welcome card
We believe in being welcoming and relevant

We believe that Jesus came to earth because God loves the whole world and so we want everyone to feel welcome at Holy Trinity & St John’s. We want people to feel relaxed and at ease. We want to connect with people, be relevant to the way they live their lives today and address the real issues of our time. Through all of this we will still be true to Jesus’ teachings.

____________

We value being authentic

We want to be real, honest and vulnerable with each other in everything we do. We are all imperfect, a work in progress and we want to accept everyone. We want our church to be a place where people can come for help support and to deal with the issues they face.

We value discipleship

We believe that Jesus calls us to be more and more like Him in the way we live our lives. At home, at work and in our community, we want to become more like Jesus – not only behaving like Jesus but having hearts like His. We want to serve others and enable each individual to become the person God is calling them to be.

We value
being led by the Holy Spirit

God is a creative God who is always working in many different ways. So, whilst we are mindful of our heritage and all that God has done in the past, we want to be people who are open to change. We look to the leadings and promptings of the Holy Spirit – being led by God and looking to work with Him, instead of simply asking Him to bless what we have decided to do.

We value the authority of the Bible and the centrality of prayer and worship

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and want to ensure that the things we do are in accordance with it. We believe that prayer is the bedrock of our relationship with God and so we want to ensure that all the things we do are underpinned by prayer both individually and corporately.

We believe that we were created for God’s pleasure – to worship Him and so we want to do all things in an attitude of Worship.
